Panchkunda

Panchkula is a historic place in Jodhpur, which consists of Royal Cenotaphs. The chhatris ( Umbrella) or cenotaphs were carved out of dark-red sandstone. It has cenotaphs of Rao Jodha, Rao Ranmal, and Rao Chunda.

Located short distance from Mandore Garden, the Panchkunda consists of cenotaphs of the ruling dynasty before the founding of city Jodhpur in the year 1459, when Mandore was reorganized as the capital of Marwar. Cenotaphs aren’t that impressive as the Cenotaphs located in Mandore garden yet they are worth a visit for those with a keen interest in the history of the place.

We visited the site for a pre-wedding photo shoot. As you aren’t permitted to enter as per what the guard told us and daily visitors are also very less, the place is less exposed. The only draw back was if you get stuck there, you won’t find any kind of help.
